So for those who don’t know what Gender Dysphoria is… according to Google dictionary, it is the condition of feeling one's emotional and psychological identity to be different with one's birth sex.
There’s still a lot of stigma around this topic, but in this channel I want to shed some light on it and help you on your journey to self acceptance.
These 5 simple steps I put together, take very little time to do, and can help you navigate through the disconnect you might’ve been facing for years.
So the 1st step is getting a journal dedicated to just your feelings, emotions and inner work. Now I want you to address those feelings that you’ve been having. Go somewhere where you can be alone, close your eyes, and write down all of those feelings.
Step 2 is to stay in that quiet place, close your eyes and write a short response to this question in your journal
1- If I could live another life, what would I want differently? Who would I want to be? Think about your relationships, your family, your career and everything else that’s important to you.
Step 3- If your response had to do with being attracted to the same sex, or living as another gender…then congratulations! You’re probably part of the LGBTQ+ Community! I know it might be very hard to come to terms with that, but now it's time to throw those false stigmas down the drain and start researching and talking to people in the community or support the community about what it actually means. I know there’s a lot of places in this world that still hold on to many of these negative stigmas about the LGBTQ+ community, so make sure that you find the right people to talk to, who will help you on this path to self discovery.
If you aren’t ready to tell anyone in your life yet, or not sure if this is really you, no worries! There are services online you can call for free, where you can talk with counselors. You can also follow LGTBQ+ Influencers on social media which can help you feel validated and understood. There are also physical groups that meet in some areas as well, but that all depends on where you live.
Step 4- It’s very important to do your research so that you don’t let the false stigmas trick you. Watch YouTube videos, read articles and blogs. Educate yourself! Learn the difference between sexuality, and gender and figure out where you stand. There are tons of books and workbooks out there for people struggling with this, and I personally get mine from Amazon.
Step 5- And Lastly, continue to journal everyday. Write a short journal each morning when you wake up and just check in with yourself. For example, you can start with…”Today I’m feeling like ___ because of___. Write down any questions, thoughts, and insights that come to your head. Think of your journal as your best friend so even if you might not have someone who you can physically vent to, you’ll have your journal.
The journey of self acceptance is not easy for many in the LGBTQ+ Community. It is often long, confusing, and even frustrating at times. But with the right tips and tricks, you can avoid a lot of that. 6 years ago, I was facing depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts, all because of this… but 6 years later, after 3 suicide attempts, running away to a whole new state, and other big events, I’m here at 22 years old, happy, content, and on the journey to living my dream life that I want to help you live as well.
And that concludes my blog post on 'How To Know If You
Have Gender Dysphoria'. I really hope you all found this blog post useful and please feel free to send me a message regarding any of this, I'd love to know about you and your journey! Goodbye for now and I'll see you all very soon in my next post:)
